The new art galleries at the IWM open with a mix of paintings, photographs and film from a range of conflicts and perspectives, setting the visitor up for what lies ahead. It’s as broad and engaging as the rest of the galleries, shaped into one easy-to-digest collage for the visitor to take in, in one go. The rest of the galleries are laid out thematically, with enough context to be able to ‘get’ what the curator intended at each point. It’s a masterclass in interpretation and well worth a visit.
